Spotlight: Oak Island North Carolina

English: Oak Island Light, North Carolina, USAImage via WikipediaOak Island is a seaside town on the Southern North Carolina coast, which, as its name suggests, is a town on an island.  However, a small section of Oak Island is located on the mainland, as it would be quite difficult to squeeze everything onto the small island.

Oak Island is known as one of the biggest tourist towns in the area, bringing in 30,000 - 50,000 summer residents, which is quite impressive given the area is tiny for that many people, and the full time resident population is less than 7,000.  As tourism is the primary industry of the town, there are plenty of rentals available for the summer.  You can look at some through this Oak Island rental directory.

Oak Island homes for sale have always held high prices, as it is one of the more popular destinations for vacationers and retirees.  However there are many different housing options on the island that can meet most reasonable budgets.  If you are ever considering Oak Island real estate, I would also consider Caswell Beach area or the Lockwood Folly Riverfront Community.  Both options are right around the corner and are great options.
