Spotlight: Oak Island North Carolina

Image
Image via Wikipedia Oak Island is a seaside town on the Southern North Carolina coast, which, as its name suggests, is a town on an island.  However, a small section of Oak Island is located on the mainland, as it would be quite difficult to squeeze everything onto the small island. Oak Island is known as one of the biggest tourist towns in the area, bringing in 30,000 - 50,000 summer residents, which is quite impressive given the area is tiny for that many people, and the full time resident population is less than 7,000.  As tourism is the primary industry of the town, there are plenty of rentals available for the summer.  You can look at some through this Oak Island rental directory . Oak Island homes for sale have always held high prices, as it is one of the more popular destinations for vacationers and retirees.  However there are many different housing options on the island that can meet most reasonable budgets.  If you are ever considering Oak Is...

Mobile Marketing

Image
Image via Wikipedia Mobile marketing has been receiving a great deal of media attention as of late, and it is quite well deserved.  Increasing numbers of people use their mobile devices to carry out tasks that would have once been done on computers or via other communication outlets.  So what can those involved in the real estate industry do to be a part of the popular trend?  Here's a few ideas. Using a contact base you already have, send messages out regarding a referral promotion.  If they bring a friend to an open house whatever real estate promotional event you have, they get a gift card or something.  This takes a few minutes to do, and gives you the opportunity to pay for whatever you think the price of a new lead is. Many home seekers are looking through listings sites to find niche homes.  By displaying your listings on mobile friendly websites, you can insure you have a tech-friendly reputation. When using mobile marketing, it is ...

Vacation in Oregon

I know it doesn't seem like the time of year to enjoy the lovely February weather of Oregon, but summer is right around the corner, and it's about time to start making summer vacation plans.  Here are my top three reasons to come vacation in Oregon: Camping : There are hundreds of campgrounds all across the state of Oregon.  Whether you are touring the Oregon coastline or are traveling through the eastern national forests, there are plenty of varieties of campgrounds available for whatever need.  Many have lodges that include cabins and yurts, and many have space for tents and RVs. Fishing : If you're into that kind of thing, Oregon is a great place to travel to.  Their rivers are full with fighting gamefish, steelhead and Chinook salmon, and there are many charter ocean fishing options available too.  There are options for the inexperienced fishers as well including guided tours. City Attractions :   Oregon has a great set of cities running along the...

Big Pine Key

Image
Image via Wikipedia After several weeks in a row of sunlight and heat deprivation, I begin to think about the nicer places of our planet.  Places where it is sunny and hot all year round, and where I would love to vacation to right now.  I always imagine myself packing up one day and moving to the Florida Keys, where you are as far away from it all while still considered as being a part of the US mainland. One of the nicer locations along the Florida Keys is the Big Pine Key.  It is one of the larger islands along the Florida Keys, and it has all the amenities you could ask for while still living in paradise. Currently, there are many Big Pine Key FL homes for sale on the market at the moment. If you are looking for a more secluded place in paradise that is still nearby to the bigger islands, I would take a look at the Summerland Key.  It is only 5 miles from Big Pine Key, and it has a much quieter feel than other nearby islands.  It is a...

North Carolina Beach Real Estate

Image
Beach shoes (Photo credit: @Doug88888 ) In this post, I've wrapped up and put together some of the best, and not as well known, locations available for home buyers along the southern North Carolina beaches.  There are many locations to choose from, but here are some of my favorites. Oyster Harbour : Located just on the outskirts of Holden Beach, this peaceful community has access to one of the many rivers that cut into the North Carolina beachfront.  Although it isn't quite considered beach real estate, the residents here have access to the Ocean, and are extremely close to the town of Holden Beach and what it has to offer.  Oyster Harbour real estate is certainly one of the nicer areas if you are looking to move into the Holden Beach area.  If you are considering moving to the Oyster Harbour area, I would also recommend looking into Outer Banks real estate .  The area is quite similar to Oyster Harbour and has access to many of the same benefits the Holden B...

Working without pay, right or wrong??

Image
Image via CrunchBase I recently read an article that was published in the New York Times today about how more real estate interns that are working for no pay.  This is a topic up for discussion across many different fields of industry, but I had never heard it brought up with real estate interns.  You can read the full article here:  http://www.nytimes.com/2012/02/07/nyregion/unpaid-interns-enter-the-world-of-real-estate.html Let me know what you think of it.  Do you think real estate interns deserve some sort of compensation besides experience?  If so, what would it be? If no, how should they expect to pay their bills without going into extreme debt?  I'm trying to answer these questions myself!

Brunswick County North Carolina

Image
Brunswick County Seal Many regions of the United States are seeing a slower population growth, and some states such as Michigan, are actually seeing a sharp population decline.  This is not the case for Brunswick County, North Carolina , which is considered one of the fastest growing counties in the country. Running straight through the county is the Brusnwick River and the Cape Fear River, which both empty out into the Atlantic Ocean.  The rivers have strong historical backgrounds as they were the primary transpiration methods for early settlers in the area.  Today, they act as a transportation method for many cargo ships, and they are also used by the residents for boating and fishing.  One of the smaller towns nearby the river is Leland, which has a great selection of shops and things to do in the town.  Southport NC, is a much larger town and is situated very close to the Atlantic Ocean, and is also another great town.  There is curre...
